Overview

Our client in Stoke on Trent is recruiting for a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver various training courses, focusing on Maths and English skills, in addition to Digital Skills and Employability Skills. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will support learners closely who are undertaking Apprenticeship courses or individuals who are returning to work. A driving licence is essential for this role.

Duties

  • Prepare and deliver Functional skills sessions for Maths, English and Digital Skills through in-centre programmes, by attending their workplaces and also through online courses
  • Conduct assessments to produce Individualised Learning Plans and then monitor the learner\\\’s progress through regular reviews to ensure achievements are being met
  • Create teaching resources, including lesson plans, assignments and assessments for individual learners
  • Ensure the teaching aligns with NOCN standards and support with regular SPAG checks
  • Identify additional learning requirements
  • Ensure compliance in all areas
  • Monitor performance against KPIs to support learner progress
  • Keep up to date with developments in Functional Skills and relevant national awards
  • Collaborate effectively with Training Officers, employers and other key stakeholders to monitor and support learner progression
  • Actively participate in Ofsted inspections, awarding body quality visits, and DfE audits when required
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion across all learning environments.
  • Support the development of new qualifications and learning programmes, such as Digital Skills, by contributing to the design of schemes of work and teaching resources.

Qualifications and candidate profile

  • Must hold a Tutoring/Teaching Qualification
  • Proven experience in a similar role where you have delivered Functional Skills training is essential (minimum 2-3 years\\\’ experience)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • A driving licence is essential
  • Must be able to complete an Enhanced DBS certificate

Hours and Salary

Hours: Monday Thursday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Part-time 24 hours a week or Full-time 37.5 hours a week

Salary: Β£32,000 Pro Rata
