Bramley Health are looking for a skilled friendly person to join their team as a Maintenance Assistant/Handyman. This role will focus on our care homes & staff accommodation in Croydon and is essential to the efficiency and safety of our care homes, staff, visitors, and service users. You will be responsible for the general maintenance of the home and their grounds.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant/Handyman to undertake general maintenance-based tasks to ensure that our care homes and its grounds are kept in a safe and operational state. The successful candidate will have a full clean driving license, their own set of tools, and be able to safely work around and interact with vulnerable adults. The company van will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs on the property as required or requested
  • Checking and replacing locks, doors, windows etc
  • Managing the replacement of outlets ie; switches, plugs, bulbs
  • Repairs and construction of basic furniture including wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside tables, beds
  • Unclogging drains and toilets
  • Repairing/ replacing faucets, pipes, and toilets as required
  • Install and maintain flooring (carpet, lino, tiles)
  • Carry out health and safety audits
  • Liaise with external contractors for completion of specialist tasks
  • Implement temporary fixes to ensure a safe environment prior to specialist involvement
  • Ensure home grounds are free of any litter/ mess
  • Keep gardens trimmed and tidy, mowing grass
  • Tending to flower beds, watering and pruning plants
  • Jet wash paths and walkways as necessary, and keep clear of ice and leaves
  • Rake up and dispose of fallen leaves
  • Ensure grounds perimeters are adequate and clean (fences and walls)

Decorator

  • Painting and/ or decorating of vacant rooms within the services as required
  • Paint/ gloss doors and skirting/ architraves
  • Hang pictures and art work in homes and halls
