We are looking to recruit an individual who is experienced in working within primary care as a receptionist or administrator to join our team here at Bramhall Health Centre.

Main duties of the job include general reception work such as answering the phones, welcoming patients on the front desk, and helping with queries like checking in, taking prescription requests, and booking appointments. You will also take payments for private work and hand out collections of records and letters.

This role will include being trained in other areas of admin that traditionally have been siloed into separate departments, providing plenty of variety and developing your depth of knowledge across the wider system. This includes processing prescription requests, scanning letters, recalling patients for monitoring, and completing registrations.

About us: We are a practice consisting of 12,000 patients with a team of 35 staff, including doctors, nurses, health care assistants, and the non-clinical team. We are based in the lovely village of Bramhall, close to shops and the train station, which is convenient for commuting and accessing local amenities.

Job responsibilities:

  • Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
  • Summarise and Read Code relevant information from patients' clinical records, hospital correspondence, and other sources into the Practice computer systems, working strictly in accordance with the practice notes summarising and read code protocols.
  • Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administration: Have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures, work in accordance with written protocols, manage registrations, online access applications, read coding and summarising, recall and quality outcomes framework activity, process prescription requests, and distribute work daily.
  • Reception: Answer phones to help patients with queries related to appointments, test results, and general enquiries; receive patients at the front desk; hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients; check names and addresses; take deliveries; pull/file notes for surgeries; complete Emis and Docman tasks as directed; complete Triage Admin on the days rotad in to support the duty GP.
  • Other Tasks: Ensure building security, have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm, and perform any other tasks allocated by managers.

Person Specification:

  • Experience within public or private health provider.
  • Primary care: 1 year (required).
  • Customer Service: 1 year (required).
  • GCSE grade A-C (9-7) in English and Maths.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
