Senior HR Advisor – 12-Month FTC Salary: £50,000 + up to £5,000 contract completion bonus Hours: 9:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday Location: Southampton | Hybrid – 2 days working from home We’re looking for an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join a professional services organisation in Southampton on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. This is a varied, hands-on HR opportunity where you’ll take ownership of complex employee relations matters, provide trusted advice to managers and employees, and use your employment law expertise to support effective people decisions. You’ll receive a salary of £50,000, with the added incentive of a up to £5,000 contract completion bonus on successful completion of the 12-month contract. About the candidate You’ll be an experienced HR professional who is confident managing complex and sensitive ER matters from start to finish. A background within legal or professional services is essential, alongside strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law. You’ll also need: CIPD Level 5 or above Experience within a Senior HR Advisor, ER Specialist or comparable HR role Strong experience managing disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence cases Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice Experience reviewing, drafting and implementing HR policies Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines Experience designing and delivering HR training What you’ll do You’ll act as a key point of expertise for employment law and employee relations, providing practical and commercially focused HR advice across the organisation. You’ll lead complex ER cases covering disciplinary, grievance, performance management, sickness absence, flexible working and capability, while maintaining accurate case records and ensuring matters progress effectively. You’ll review and draft HR policies, manage key stages of the employee lifecycle including onboarding, probation and leavers, and provide guidance to employees across a range of wellbeing and employee relations matters. You’ll also support training and professional development activities and work collaboratively with the wider HR team on projects and initiatives across EDI, employee wellbeing and mental health.
