We are seeking an experienced, proactive and operationally minded Lab Manager with a strong healthcare or clinical background to lead the setup and procurement, launch and running of our new in-house clinical diagnostics laboratory. This is a rare opportunity to create and establish a laboratory, design the layout, understand the required equipment, define workflows and embed compliance from day one. You will work closely with the Clinical Director and Procurement Director to determine what is required, build the lab, and ensure it operates safely, efficiently and to the highest clinical standards.
You will have proven experience of working within a healthcare or clinical laboratory environment, a strong understanding of diagnostics and sample processing, and proven ability to manage audits, compliance and SOPs. You will be highly organised, detail-focused and confident taking ownership of both the clinical and operational delivery of the laboratory.
What You'll Do
- Lead the end-to-end setup of the laboratory, including layout, workflows and operational structure
- Work with the Clinical Director to define diagnostic services, equipment needs and laboratory requirements
- Work with the Procurement Director to source, specify and install laboratory equipment and consumables
- Support the transition to in-house testing, reducing reliance on external laboratories
- Oversee the handling, processing and quality control of:
- Blood samples
- Urine samples (including enhanced diagnostic checks)
- Biopsies
- Swabs
- Processing tissue samples
