Job Description

Sysco GB are recruiting an additional Fleet Compliance Business Partner to join the Fleet Compliance team.

A key role reporting to the Head of Fleet Compliance and working with the Sysco GB Ltd Organisations on all aspects of driver and vehicle compliance.

Analysing compliance data and trends through reports and using the current maintenance and tachograph compliance systems to enable delivery of support to the businesses transport and fleet teams, ensuring the business is within the companies KPI and expected criteria for DVSA Earned recognition.

We are looking for an individual with a high level, supportive approach for their allocated area of responsibility, a can-do attitude, always looking for ways of improvement for the GB business. Someone who relishes a challenge, to ensure delivery of a best-in-class performance for Sysco GB fleet and driver compliance.

This role is home based but will involve extensive travel throughout the Sysco network so you must hold a full UK Driving licence and be open to travelling.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse vehicle fleet compliance for Statutory and Legislative maintenance arrangements, including correct service and safety inspection intervals, ancillary equipment certification and calibration using the businesses maintenance monitoring system and addressing any issues, concerns found.
  • Work to ensure all Sysco GB driver compliance is at acceptable standards, aligning to the companies set KPI’s for working time directive and tachograph infringements in line with the DVSA and Earned recognition guidelines.
  • Monitor MOT pass rate regionally, nationally, work with the fleet engineering team to address poor performance with the depot and maintenance provider.
  • Support and monitor the correct practices and procedures in line with the company’s commitment to the 11 undertakings to the Traffic Commissioner and O licence.
  • Support all nominated O licence holders in line with Earned recognition expectations.
  • Assist depots to be aligned to the business and Earned Recognition audit criteria, giving support and attention where required.
  • Support the operators in area’s that require compliance training and driver support.
  • Monitor the vehicle daily walkaround procedure, ensure that the correct standard of walkaround is being completed using both technologies being used and sample auditing, any failings are shared with the fleet management team and the correct follow up actions are implemented.
  • Manage projects as directed by the Head of Fleet Compliance
  • Collate performance metrics for monthly review with the Head of Fleet Compliance with an action plan for any underperformance that will be worked through with the required depot colleagues.
  • Regularly review the Groups operator’s licences for correct business information, highlight any non-conformities to ensure compliance.
  • Review any manual entry error requests, complete amendments for eligible drivers, review formal sanction process for repeat offenders.
  • Complete the required reports and follow up action plan with the depot CPC Holders that will be required to be sent to the DVSA for any non-conformity outside of the Earned Recognition KPIs.
  • Follow up and review any action plans, sent to the DVSA, to ensure that the written commitment is being adhered to, ensuring repeat KPI failures are avoided.
  • If required, attend, and represent the business with any enforcing body or customer / stakeholder visits and inspections, Including the DVSA or Traffic Commissioner with regards to any of the Sysco GB operator’s license.
  • Carryout when required, full written depot investigation into any serious major incident, analysing data and records, gathering evidence of root cause and presenting findings to the executive team.
  • Work with other Sysco colleagues on any projects, tasks required to achieve a high standard for the team and department.
  • Support with maintaining the business repute in relation to the Earned Recognition accreditation.
  • Review, amend existing Fleet Compliance policies and create new policies and processes as required that align to the Earned Recognition scheme, implement and support the regions depots with follow up of implementation and progress of any new process or policy.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will hold a transport management CPC qualification, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of the operators’ undertakings and DVSA guidelines and be able to use your fleet compliance knowledge to represent the business with any governing authority to a professional standard. You’ll be a morally upstanding individual who will maintain high personal standards of integrity and hold others to a high standard of honestly, legal compliance and integrity. You will demonstrate a collaborative and coaching style of leadership and be able to build effective relationships across the network of internal colleagues and external stakeholders. You’ll be a confident individual with a passion for compliance and success, must have a can-do attitude, be a real team player who will continually monitor and drive compliance within the business to be best in class. You’ll possess the skills to create a positive culture within the business, must be able display a supportive attitude to all Sysco GB colleagues and key stakeholders and have previous experience of controlling driver or fleet compliance to a high standard, understanding the requirements and guidelines of the DVSA and Traffic Commissioner. You must be willing to travel to depots within their region, with occasional nights away from home.
