Job Description

Finance Associate – Controls

Sysco GB are currently recruiting for a results driven Finance Associate to join our Controls Finance team in Ashford, Kent on a full time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner Controls, you will be responsible for ensuring adherance with the key SOX controls for Finance and supporting with delivery of month end results for the Sysco GB divisions. This role is also responsible for ensuring alignment of key reporting systems and external reporting to the government on Payment Practices across all divisions. This role is also hands on with the transformation projects currently underway within Finance, ensuring alignment of best practice processes across the Sysco GB divisions.

This role is offering flexible hybrid working with 1-2 days based in our Kent office for team collaboration and meetings, so you must be with in a commutable distance.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for key monthly SOX control, ensuring alignment between the Data Warehouse tool, used for Commercial reporting, and General Ledger, used for Financial reporting.
  • Responsible for investigating any discrepancies in the above data sets, and working to a logical conclusion to resolve these and prevent them occurring again.
  • Completing month end processes for Central Finance, including completion of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Involvement in the Business Process re-engineering workstream to standardise and embed best practice processes across Sysco GB divisions
  • Support with transformation projects, acting as a Super User and User Acceptance Tester for systems implementations
  • Act as a key point of liaison for collaboration between Commercial Finance, Central Finance and Technology teams
  • Stand in for Senior Finance Business Partner as required
  • About you:

    This is a great role for someone with a strong academic background and excellent commercial acumen who is currently training or would like to train in CIMA or ACCA in the future. You will bring strong data capability and confident Excel skills, enabling you to work effectively with stakeholders across the business while managing and interpreting multiple streams of information. You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders and departments across the business, as well as being meticulous in your analysis and able to prioritise and manage different sources of information with a dedicated focus on driving results. You will have a strong desire to succeed and take ownership of your work, using your initiative to spot anomalies, question why and follow enquiries to a conclusion whilst maintaining professional and ethical standards.
