Join our friendly team in Brighton as a Warehouse Operative/Shunter and enjoy a varied, active role where no two shifts are the same. This is your chance to join a market leader in food distribution, Brakes (a Sysco Company) where you’ll get job security, ongoing training, and real opportunities to grow your career – all within a welcoming team that treats you like family.

You’ll spend around 80% of your time working in the warehouse and the rest of your shift taking care of on-site vehicle movements. In the warehouse, you’ll be picking and checking a mix of ambient, chilled, and frozen food items, using roll cages, PPTs, and handheld scanners to prepare stock for delivery and manage the flow of goods in and out of the depot.

The shunter side of your role will keep you close to the action. You’ll be responsible for moving our 14T, 18T, and 26T multi-temperature vehicles around site, setting and monitoring fridge/freezer temperatures, and reporting any vehicle defects. You’ll play a key part in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

You’ll receive a full induction and tailored training plan, including slow manoeuvring practice, so you’ll feel confident and supported from day one.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a valid driving licence and be comfortable lifting up to 25kg as part of your day-to-day tasks. You’ll also need your own transport to get to the depot. A good eye for detail, strong spatial awareness, and the ability to stay calm under pressure will help you thrive in this busy but rewarding environment.

This is a great role that offers the opportunity for progression within a large organisation.
