Braintrust Overview: Braintrust (braintrust.com) is a rapidly growing platform transforming the hiring process with AI technology. We recently launched Braintrust AIR, the world’s first AI recruiter that automates candidate interviews and screening. Braintrust AIR leverages AI-powered interviews to help companies hire faster, reducing costs, eliminating bias, and identifying top talent quickly. We are a remote-first company, and our design language is modern, clean, and aligned with the sleek aesthetic visible on our website. We value innovation, speed, and user-centric design in building our SaaS recruitment products.

Role Overview: We are seeking a UI/UX Designer (Mid-to-Senior level) to take ownership of all UI/UX design at Braintrust. In this full-time or contract role, you will play a key role in driving the user experience and interface of Braintrust AIR and related products. You’ll work fully remote and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams – in particular, partnering with our Sales team to rapidly iterate on new product features and client feedback. Your mission is to conceptualize and design new features for our AI recruiting platform in a fast-paced environment, maintaining consistency with Braintrust’s existing design language. You should be fluent in the latest AI-enhanced design tools (within Figma, as well as plugins like UX Pilot and Google Stitch) to supercharge your workflow. This role requires someone who can move quickly from idea to high-fidelity design, using AI to accelerate iteration while ensuring designs are polished and developer-ready for handoff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead End-to-End Design: Own the UI/UX design process from concept to delivery. Develop user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups for new features and improvements in Braintrust AIR, ensuring a cohesive, intuitive user experience across the platform. Establish and maintain our design system, aligning all work with Braintrust’s visual style and brand guidelines.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Iteration: Collaborate with the Sales and Product teams to translate client needs and feedback into design solutions quickly. Produce rapid prototypes (lo-fi and hi-fi) to test ideas and gather feedback, leveraging AI design tools to speed up creation. Embrace an agile, iterative design approach – we expect multiple design iterations and quick adjustments in response to stakeholder feedback, consistent with Lean UX and Design Thinking principles that emphasize rapid iteration and collaboration.
  • AI Tool Utilization: Take advantage of cutting-edge design automation tools. Utilize UX Pilot (an AI-powered design assistant) and Figma’s latest AI plugins to generate layouts or components, saving time on routine work while you maintain creative control. Experiment with Google Stitch – Google’s new AI UI design tool that can turn text prompts into interface designs “in minutes” – to ideate or draft design alternatives quickly.
  • UI Design & Visual Polish: Craft visually appealing, clean, and modern interfaces in line with Braintrust’s design language. Ensure consistency in typography, color, spacing, and component styles across the application.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the design cycle. Clearly communicate design ideas and rationale through sketches, prototypes, or presentations. Incorporate feedback from Sales (reflecting client/user needs) to refine designs swiftly.
  • Developer Handoff & Support: Prepare final design assets and specifications for smooth handoff to the development team. This includes organizing Figma files with reusable components, auto-layout, and styles for developer-ready designs, and providing annotated layouts or design system documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with UI/UX best practices, emerging design tools, and industry trends. Proactively suggest improvements to the product’s user experience and new features that leverage our AI capabilities.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Experience: Mid-to-senior level experience (approximately 4+ years) as a UI/UX or Product Designer, with a strong portfolio of SaaS product designs. Experience designing complex web applications or dashboards is required; experience in HR tech, recruiting, or enterprise tools is a plus.
  • UI/UX Expertise: Solid knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability, and interaction design. Ability to conduct basic user research or interpret feedback to inform design decisions.
  • Mastery of Design Tools: Expert proficiency in Figma for interface design and prototyping. You are also fluent in the latest AI-driven design tools and Figma plugins.
  • Rapid Iteration & Agile Mindset: Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment. Comfortable ideating and iterating quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for visual detail and consistency. Able to uphold a high quality bar even when moving fast.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills in a remote setting. You can clearly articulate design rationale and trade-offs to non-designers.
  • Adaptability and Learning: Enthusiasm for learning and adopting new tools or techniques.
