To excel as a Medical Records Coordinator, you must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
Medical Records Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Request, collect, organize, and maintain client medical records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Track outstanding medical record requests and follow-up with providers through fulfillment.
- Retrieve and file medical records promptly to support case preparation and legal proceedings.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all client medical information.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and medical providers to obtain necessary medical documentation.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Medical Records Coordinator Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in health information management or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years experience in medical records management, preferably in a legal or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare documentation practices.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Fluent, natural proficiency in both spoken and written English. This is non-negotiable.
- Must always have access to 2 forms of power and 2 forms of internet.
- Proven and signed discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial and client data, HIPAA, etc.
- Proactive follow-up and ability to prioritize independently.
- Comfortable managing 50-75 active client cases at any given time, tracking updates, and coordinating across legal staff.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the capacity to manage workload and deadlines.
- A humble, proactive, team-oriented mindset: teachable, “people-smart,” and driven to support both clients and colleagues.
- Background in legal services and familiarity with legal terminology and practices is a plus.
