About the Company
Braintree Precision Components is a precision engineering business based in Braintree, Essex. Part of the wider HepcoMotion group, they manufacture a catalogue of high-quality components to exacting standards, supplying customers across a range of sectors.
The CNC Turning department runs Doosan and Goodway machines on Fanuc controls, and the team takes quality seriously at every stage.
The Role
This is a CNC Turner / CNC Setter Operator position within the Turning department, reporting to Adam Hearn. The role exists to free up a senior team member to step into a broader position, so you will be the person who keeps output moving. Success in this role means hitting first-off approval consistently, maintaining quality through in-process inspection, and running your machine with minimal supervision.
You’ll:
- Set and operate CNC fixed-head turning machines (Doosan and Goodway, Fanuc controls)
- Load and prove out programmes from the existing catalogue according to tools lists and works instructions
- Produce valid first-off components in line with drawing and quality requirements
- Conduct in-process inspection and check against drawings and specifications throughout production
- Complete all QA records accurately and on time
- Select tooling and make adjustments to maintain component quality
- Follow all site health and safety procedures
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Proven background in CNC turning, setting, and operating
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc CNC controls
- Self-sufficient in first-off approval and in-process quality checks
Useful, not essential:
- Familiarity with Siemens CNC controls
- Experience in a catalogue or repeat-production environment
- Background in CNC milling or grinding (skills transfer considered)
- Apprenticeship or time-served background in machining or engineering
