We have an opportunity for an HGV Technician to join our team based in the Fleet Workshop at Braintree District Council.
Location: Braintree, Essex
Salary: £39,545 to £42,965 per annum (inclusive of Market Supplement)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

HGV Technician - The Role:
Working in within the fleet workshop, you will be part of the team looking after the maintenance and servicing needs of the Council's mixed fleet of heavy and light goods vehicles, plant and machinery. One of your key responsibilities will be to ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to the schedule and to DVSA standards, manufacturer's procedures, the Council's Operators Licence and relevant legislation. Other duties will include diagnostic work, preparation for MOT's, running repairs, roadside breakdown and recovery, welding, completion of paperwork and accurate maintenance of records.
HGV Technician - You:
To be successful in this role, you will hold a recognised qualification in engineering or motor vehicle repair and maintenance OR relevant experience and have a valid category C driving licence (or willingness to achieve this within 6 months). It is essential that you have experience of repair and maintenance of a wide variety of HGV vehicles, ideally including refuse vehicles. You will need to be a positive team player who can work unsupervised, manage your own time effectively and be self-motivated. You also need to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, managers and suppliers. Flexibility around working hours is required as you will be required to cover shifts and weekends on a rota basis. (37 per week, Mon - Fri) including late shift.
