The Role:
Are you passionate about creating high-quality places, influencing strategic planning and delivering meaningful outcomes for local communities? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Planning Policy Officer (Monitoring and S106) to join our team and play a key part in shaping the future of Braintree.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on complex workstreams and contribute to the development of the Council's Local Plan.
- Lead on the monitoring of housing delivery and S106.
- Support a wide range of planning policy initiatives that help guide sustainable growth across the district.
- Ensure the Council complies with legislative requirements in relation to monitoring S106 planning obligations.
- Provide supervision of day-to-day tasks of the team to ensure delivery of an excellent service.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and internal performance management targets.
- Lead on monitoring of housing delivery and 5-year Housing Land Supply, acting as an expert witness at Public Inquiries as necessary.
You:
- Have a degree in Town Planning or a related subject.
- Be a Chartered Town Planner or be eligible for membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Have experience of Planning Appeals including Hearings/Public Inquiries.
- Have knowledge and understanding of CIL regulations, statutory guidance and S106 Agreements.
- Have a working knowledge of planning law, 5-year housing supply, standard method and housing monitoring.
- Have a sound understanding of the local plan process.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively across teams and with key stakeholders.
- Have a flexible approach to work, good organisational skills and contribute positively in a team environment.
