The Role: We have a great opportunity for a Housing Assessment Support Officer to join our busy Housing team. The role will involve maintaining the Housing Register through the Gateway to Homechoice website, assessing housing applications, looking after changes of circumstances and advertising and shortlisting empty properties for social landlords. You will also carry out investigations to determine which applications should take priority, liaising with landlords, Social Services, Mental Health Teams, GPs and the Police, renew applications, identify those who may be within 56 days of becoming homeless and place bids on suitable properties for applicants who are unable to.
You:
- With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be confident liaising with customers, colleagues and partner organisations, with a positive and non-judgmental approach.
- You will also have good practical IT skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure, and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- A knowledge of housing issues and previous experience of working in a housing-related role would be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
- A full UK driving licence, and access to a car, is essential for this role.
