  • Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Manager and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join our team.

This role is an experienced professional committed to ensuring every pupil feels safe, supported and able to thrive.

Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, school staff, families and external agencies, you will promote wellbeing, safeguard vulnerable pupils, reduce barriers to learning and foster positive relationships that enable all children to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate pastoral support across the school, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, working closely with the DSL to manage safeguarding concerns and referrals.
  • Build positive and effective relationships with pupils, families, staff and external agencies to promote pupil wellbeing and achievement.
  • Identify and support vulnerable pupils and families, providing early intervention, targeted pastoral support and appropriate sign‑posting to specialist services.
  • Manage safeguarding cases, including referrals to Children's Services, Early Help, the Police and other agencies where appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline such as Health and Social Care, Childcare and Education.
  • Degree in Social Care or a similar relevant discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with pupils and parents/carers.
  • Ability to hold difficult conversations confidently and effectively.
  • Pay and Working Hours
  • SCP 21–25: £32,668.15 – £35,500.21 (includes inner London allowance)
  • FTE: £37,143.00 – £40,363.00 (includes inner London allowance)
  • 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
  • Permanent position.
