MAIN PURPOSE:

To provide an occupational therapy service by assessing, implementing and evaluating programmes and goal setting of person-centred care as part of the multi-disciplinary team. To provide leadership, supervision and education as appropriate for more junior members of the team.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of service users in their care.
  • To ensure high standards of clinical care for the service users under their management and support others to do likewise.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessment of service users, using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised rehabilitation and treatment plans.
  • To promote choice in all aspects of clinical practice reviewing and making suggestions to enhance the service users’ experience and enabling concerns and complaints to be raised freely by service users and their representatives.
  • To liaise and communicate with other health and social care professionals and volunteers in the planning and delivery of occupational therapy.
  • To ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources.
  • To ensure that up to date written and electronic records are maintained in accordance with Professional and Brainkind standards, and that sensitive information is held securely.
  • To demonstrate clinical leadership and promote clinical supervision.
  • To share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching.
  • To be responsible for raising the awareness of the team with regard to clinical governance and clinical risk issues and for implementing clinical governance policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Diploma/BSC in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current and valid Registration with Health & Care Professions Council.
  • Relevant post graduate training in appropriate speciality.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Experience of working in a relevant setting.
  • Demonstrable experience of using evidence based practice and outcome measures.
  • Skilled knowledge and application of therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and help achieve goals.
