Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will assist with a wide range of legal, corporate compliance, and risk-related administrative tasks. Brainkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people to regain the skills they have lost.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administrative support to the General Counsel and wider legal team, including triaging emails, organising files and drafting correspondence.
- Maintain and update legal compliance registers, including risk, data protection, and company secretarial registers.
- Assist with the coordination and tracking of legal and regulatory training across the organisation.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of internal policies and procedures.
- Help prepare documentation for audits, committees, board meetings, and regulatory submissions.
- Liaise with internal teams to gather information for legal compliance matters.
- Manage document filing systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable data protection laws.
- Assist with contract administration, including setting up a system to reflect accurate logging, tracking, maintaining and filing of contracts, documents and agreements.
- Monitor regulatory updates and flag relevant changes to the legal team.
- Support ad hoc projects related to corporate governance, risk management, and legal compliance.
- Understand organisational policies and procedures to ensure appropriate decision-making protocols are followed.
About you
- Understanding of charity law, data protection (UK GDPR), and other regulatory frameworks.
- Previous experience in a legal, compliance, or governance role.
- Experience working in the not-for-profit or public sector.
- IT skills including the ability to open and send emails using Outlook, the ability to use Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate the internet.
- An understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and an alignment to the Brainkind values.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong administrative and organisation skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Travelling requirements / driving license.
