Main Purpose
To enable service users to take part in recreational and social activities of their choice, encouraging independent choice.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Working with healthcare assistants and therapists to ensure cognitive, social, emotional, physical and functional needs are addressed
- Responsible to facilitate service users in their chosen activities and to enable service users to deal with self-care deficits as appropriate
- Responsible to ensure that the service usersβ individual rights and choices are actively promoted and supported, and their beliefs and preferences appropriately acknowledged
- Monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of all service users in order to be aware of changes and to alert senior colleagues as necessary. Assisting in maintaining morale of service users by communication and contact β achieved by talking and working with them.Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks
About you
- No formal qualifications required
- Level 2 in Care or other relevant subject /training is desirable
- Understanding of health/social care sector work
- Experience of working with people in a care setting or similar
- Skilled in interacting with all types of people
- Ability to develop and create a variety of interactive activities appropriate to the service user needs and wishes
- Ability to assess effectiveness of interventions, review and amend them as needed
- Proven experience of working within a team
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to work within policies and procedures
