Job Description
Vocational & Recreational Coordinator
Salary: Up to £22,586.20 per annum FTE
Brainkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people to regain the skills they have lost. We treat people with a range of brain injuries – sustained through trauma, illness, substance abuse and more – to recover and meet their personal goals. Main purpose
To support in the provision of a comprehensive vocational/learning/recreational activities service, creating means whereby service users are able to achieve their stated aims through a variety of opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Assisting to maximise service user independence and well-being through supporting the facilitation of accessing to a range of internal and external vocational, learning and recreational opportunities.
- To assist relevant colleagues in the development and delivery of vocational, learning and recreational programmes.
- To support in maintaining partnerships with external vocational/learning and recreational providers.
- To pursue existing and encourage new interest across a range of activities within the local community.
- To provide opportunities for service users to acquire/improve skills of literacy, numeracy and computer competency.
- To assist service users to acquire a variety of daily living skills either by active participation or observation.
- To regularly report areas of achievement and future plans to enable other staff groups within their sphere of work to pursue, encourage, reinforce or progress service users personal goals.
- To be conversant with service user Care Programmes related to aspects of personal care, nutritional requirements, mobility and communication aids.
- To be conversant/proficient with all equipment situated within the Activities Department ensuring, in line with manufacturers recommendations, correct usage by self and others.
- To ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe working order in line with Health & Safety regulations, notifying Line Manager of any defects found and initiating appropriate repairs.
Requirements / Skills
- Working within a multidisciplinary environment or experience of supporting with the devising and implementing activity programmes.
- IT skills including the ability to open and send emails using Outlook, the ability to use Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate the internet.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written forms.
- Customer care skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Timely reporting and record keeping.
- Full driving license and ability to drive the service vehicles.
