MAIN PURPOSE

To support the day‑to‑day maintenance of Brainkind properties, helping to keep buildings safe, compliant and in good repair, while completing the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeship standard (ST0171 v1.1).

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the planning, preparation and delivery of general property maintenance tasks, in line with work instructions, specifications and building safety requirements.
  • Carry out minor planned and responsive repairs within competence and training, using a broad range of fundamental trade skills (e.g., basic carpentry/joinery, patch repairs, finishing/painting and decorating).
  • Support minor plumbing tasks (e.g., taps, traps, basic blockages) and recognise, isolate where authorised, and report electrical faults/issues (no unauthorised electrical work).
  • Maintain a safe working environment: follow risk assessments, use PPE, apply COSHH controls, and keep work areas clean, clear and free from obstruction.
  • Select, check, use, clean and store tools and equipment correctly; report faults and arrange maintenance/replacement through the supervisor.
  • Carry out basic checks/inspections as instructed and support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) records and statutory compliance tasks where appropriate.
  • Receive and distribute deliveries and dispose of domestic and (where applicable) clinical waste safely and in line with local procedures and legislation.
  • Record and report work completed, faults, and follow‑on actions using job sheets and/or digital systems.
  • Provide a professional, customer‑focused service, maintaining confidentiality and supporting Brainkind values; undertake reasonable additional tasks as required.

About you

  • Age 16+ and eligible to undertake an apprenticeship in England, with the right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to work towards Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative (ST0171 v1.1) and complete off‑the‑job training requirements.
  • English and Maths: working towards/achieved the required Functional Skills level (as per apprenticeship rules).
  • Basic qualifications (e.g., GCSEs or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • No driving licence required.
