Location: Hitchin

Salary: £12.91 per Hour with a 0.37p Location Allowance (£13.28 per hour)

Shifts: 2 shifts per week as rostered by the Head Chef. Shift times 7.00‑15.00 and to work alternate weekends.

Main Purpose: To assist in the provision of meals and refreshments, and the maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments.
  • Wash up used utensils, pans and crockery in the dishwasher; hand wash certain items as appropriate.
  • Clean kitchen work surfaces, equipment, floors, fridges, freezers and other storage cupboards in line with cleaning schedules and record as instructed.
  • Ensure all equipment is stored away and the kitchen is left clean and tidy at the end of each shift.
  • Report equipment faults, repair and maintenance needs in line with local procedures.
  • Monitor and report supplies requirements.
  • Record all information as required by Brainkind policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that meals and refreshments are attractive to service users and in line with Brainkind standards.
  • Assist the Head Chef and Chef to provide services that meet the Brainkind and regulatory body standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 2 food hygiene certificate or willing and able to complete within 2 weeks of starting employment.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work within policies and procedures.
  • Experience of working in a similar environment.
