Ty Aberdafen is located in the Avenue area of Llanelli. Llanelli is where east Wales meets west Wales. It is located on the Loughor Estuary, some 12 miles south-east of Carmarthen town.

We are within close distance to number of attractions. Millennium Coastal Path, which runs from Llanelli through Sandy Water Park, Burry Port to Pembrey Forest. The magnificent promenade with viewing platforms boasts stunning views of Carmarthen Bay and the Gower Peninsular. Pembrey Country Park where you will find more lovely coastal scenery, woodland wildlife trails and bike hire from the Ski Pembrey centre.

Brainkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of peoplewith brain injuries in the UK.Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people to regain the skills they have lost. The Role

We provide assessment and rehabilitation, continuing rehabilitation, and a range of transitional living options to support those progressing to greater independence. When a service user is admitted to Ty Aberdafen, they undergo an in-depth neurobehavioral assessment to determine their potential for social reintegration and increased independence.

Ty Aberdafen is a bright modern purpose-built residential rehabilitation centre that provides rehabilitation and support services to people who have suffered various types of acquired brain injury. The service can accommodate up to 24 residents.

Within the centre, the residents are supported to participate in group sessions led by in house activity coordinator with staff getting involved, access communal lounges like coffee shop, games IT lounge, Sensory lounge. Group session can be anything from baking sessions to arts and crafts, quiz days, disco nights and many more.

The aims and objectives of the staff team at Ty Aberdafen are to provide residential accommodation, personal care, rehabilitation therapy, and support for people aged over 18 with cognitive, behavioural, and functional difficulties resulting from different forms of acquired brain injury.

Ty Aberdafen is under New Management and the service is led by an experienced Service Manager, who is supported by a senior management team comprising of the senior staff in the following areas – the clinical team, rehabilitation team, business management team and the facilities team.

The people we support have access to a wide range of activities developed around their personal rehabilitation needs, personal interests, hobbies, and preferences. Many activities are included in individual rehabilitation programmes and support people’s independence, socialisation, and progress towards their individual goals, some of these take place in the centre and some are achieved by accesses the local community supported by our staff team.

Staff encourage and support people we support to take part in their preferred social and leisure pursuits, within the home and the local community. Whenever possible, people we support are encouraged and supported to use public facilities as part of their long-term rehabilitation and relapse prevention, and social reintegration programme, as well as for social and leisure purposes.

Our rehabilitation support staff work closely with the onsite clinical team and assist with the delivery of rehabilitation plans and therapy sessions.

• have good time management skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload.
