For a client company, an international player delivering solutions for the solar inverter, battery storage, and the repowering markets, we are seeking a Technical Solutions Manager to strengthen our engineering capability and support customers across all technical aspects of pre-sales, deployment, and lifecycle optimisation in the UK market. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who combines customer-facing capability, solution design expertise, and hands-on understanding across PV, BESS, and power electronics.

You will work across the three key technical pillars of our UK business:

  • C&I BESS (Commercial & Industrial Energy Storage): Support solution design, technical integration, and engineering readiness for a growing portfolio of medium-scale BESS deployments.
  • Utility-Scale PV / BESS: Provide technical support for system design, commissioning, performance diagnosis, and grid-compliance topics in large-scale solar and hybrid applications.
  • Repowering & Revamping: Deliver technical assessments, replacement strategies, and system upgrade pathways to extend fleet performance and optimise asset value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Solution Design & Engineering Support: Develop technically sound solutions across C&I BESS, utility-scale PV, and repowering applications. Produce system designs, configuration recommendations, and technical integration plans covering inverters, BESS, communication interfaces, and grid-compliance requirements. Support pre-sales activities by providing technical validation, solution sizing, and risk evaluation for proposals and tenders.
  • Project & Commissioning Support: Assist EPCs, installers, and O&M partners during system deployment, commissioning, and first-time energisation. Provide hands-on or remote support for inverter/BESS configuration, parameterisation, and acceptance testing. Ensure best-practice engineering standards are applied across all project stages.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Lifecycle Performance: Conduct diagnostics, assess plant behaviour, and support resolution of inverter/BESS performance issues. Use monitoring tools and root-cause investigation methodologies to identify underlying system problems and propose corrective actions. Feed insights into continuous improvements for FIMER products, documentation, and service processes.
  • Repowering & Upgrade Pathways: Analyse ageing inverter fleets and propose replacement strategies, upgrade options, and performance-enhancing engineering measures. Conduct site reviews, compatibility assessments, and commercial/technical recommendations for repowering projects.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, EPCs, developers, and asset managers. Translate complex engineering concepts into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders. Participate in customer workshops, technical presentations, and site visits.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with UK Sales, Service, and the Global Engineering/R&D teams to ensure alignment on product capabilities, deployment roadmap, and continuous improvement. Contribute technical inputs for service offerings, proposals, bid documents, and commercial strategies.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Electronics, or a related field. 5+ years of technical engineering experience in PV inverters, BESS, or power electronics. Working knowledge of utility-scale PV design, grid integration principles, communication protocols, and BESS system architecture. Proven experience supporting technical solutions, commissioning, troubleshooting, or system integration. Ability to analyse data, diagnose technical issues, and provide clear, actionable recommendations. Strong customer-facing communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable working autonomously across multiple projects and stakeholders. UK-wide travel as required.
  • Desirable: Experience with repowering/revamping programmes or inverter fleet upgrades. Prior work with global power-electronics manufacturers or large EPC/O&M organisations. Familiarity with grid-compliance frameworks (G99, frequency response behaviour, reactive power requirements, etc.). Experience supporting bid/tender responses with technical input.

Key Competencies

  • Strong technical credibility and solution-design capability
  • Analytical mindset with hands-on engineering pragmatism
  • Excellent customer engagement and communication
  • Structured approach to diagnostics and problem-solving
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Service, Sales, Product, and Engineering
  • Ownership mentality and high accountability
