Design Engineer in Basildon

Our client is a leading international life science company that develops, manufactures, and distributes instruments, consumables, and services for use in laboratories around the world. The product portfolio of the business is diverse with significant investments into R&D. They are looking to expand the team by adding a Refrigeration Design Engineer to the team based in Essex. Position: Design & development of refrigeration systems following agile methodology of product development Use of numeric calculation methods to assure design performance while minimising investment on prototype and experiments building, calibrate models targeting representativeness Create and review specifications of refrigeration systems and components for use either to prototypes and off tooling units Assure refrigeration specifications are feasible to source by connecting to suppliers and manufacturing Provide specific documentation related to product design to meet regulatory compliance Advocate on refrigeration testing by making sure product and testing quality level is appropriate. Guide testing to improve products Feed refrigeration technology roadmap pipeline by targeting new and feasible technologies Assist on quality complaints from the field by providing technical support in order to identify root cause, short and long term alternatives and determine product risks Provide support on manufacturing processes and methods to meet quality and safety standards Education Ideally Mechanical/Design Engineering or relevant practical expertise Nice to have: Technical background in thermodynamics and heat transfer DFM, FMEA and design controls a plus Design packages and software exposure
