About the role:

This role will be responsible for all aspects of the garment technology within our Sherpa Outdoor Gear range, reporting into the Head of Design / Product Development. You will ensure that the design-to-production process is carried out within a specified timeline schedule and to a high standard. Your specialist skills will also be useful when working with other company brands such as Schffel Country and Artilect.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To own and manage the garment construction process from initial concept to production/shipment, ensuring the fit and product quality of the highest standard.
  • Work with the Head of Design / Product Development on fitting the product at the concept fit stage, to ensure the initial design brief is retained.
  • Support with creating detailed and clear tech packs and keep them updated.
  • Liaise with suppliers for updates on sample submissions and ensure the critical path is updated and maintained across all product categories.
  • Ensure all supplier email correspondence is dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all product is fitted and approved within the critical path timeline.
  • Communicate clear and precise fitting comments, including illustrated fit changes.
  • Drive consistency in fit and quality through product development/approval processes.
  • Ensure products are safe and legal to international and in-house standards. Communicate testing requirements for each product category, resolving any issues.
  • Main point of contact for any customer service queries or product feedback involving fit or quality issues.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience is essential, providing an excellent knowledge of fabric technologies, garment construction, fit, and sustainability practices, particularly in outdoor or performance wear.
  • A technical background in garment construction, with experience in pattern cutting and ePatterns.
  • A broad technical experience of casual and outdoor products (mens and womens).
  • Experience in using Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to create detailed tech packs and understand PLM systems.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the production process, including test reports.
  • Commercial acumen and an ability to constructively challenge.
  • An understanding of compliance around manufacturing.
  • Effective communication skills and an ability to work with a variety of people, internally and externally.
  • Eyes on the bigger picture, innovative and able to bring new solutions to the brand.
  • Highly organised, a natural time manager and able to meet deadlines.
  • Pro-active and hands-on in style. A team player who enjoys working collaboratively but is equally comfortable and capable working independently.
