Bradley David Associates is recruiting for an experienced Import Operator (NVOCC) on behalf of a growing logistics and freight forwarding organisation based in Chelmsford. This role requires strong operational knowledge of House Bills of Lading, customs procedures, container management, and carrier liability, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly, and profitably.
Responsibilities:
- Manage ocean import shipments under company-issued House Bills of Lading (HBLs)
- Verify Master Bills of Lading (MBLs) against shipment documentation
- Coordinate with shipping lines, overseas agents, co-loaders, and consolidation partner
- Coordinate or submit UK import declarations via CDS
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready digital job files
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in ocean imports within an NVOCC or freight forwarding environment
- Experience handling House Bills of Lading and consolidation shipments
- Working knowledge of UK import customs procedures via CDS
- Familiarity with international Incoterms and import documentation
- Knowledge of port community systems such as Destin8 or CNS (desirable)
- Claims handling experience within freight operations (advantageous)
