Role Overview: To support the Production Director in ensuring all production and warehouse operations run smoothly, tasks are completed on schedule, and quality standards are met. This role involves managing a team of 13, handling production workflows, maintaining warehouse standards, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary Line Manager for a team of 16, providing clear guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Receive handovers for each project and ensure production processes align with handover specifications.
- Review, approve, and submit weekly timesheets on the designated spreadsheet for Accounts processing.
- Verify and enforce adherence to set piece rates, ensuring they are correctly applied across production tasks.
- Maintain daily communication with the Production and Planning Director, proactively addressing any scheduling issues or delays.
- Quality Control: Implement quality checks throughout the production process to ensure all units meet required standards before shipping.
- Training & Development: Identify skill gaps and coordinate training for team members to enhance efficiency and maintain high production standards.
- Resource Planning: Ensure adequate staffing, materials, and equipment are available to meet production demands and deadlines.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate current production processes and suggest improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve any production-related issues, minimizing delays and disruption to the schedule.
Warehouse Management:
- Access and Security: Hold and manage a set of keys, with responsibilities including opening and closing the facility, and setting the alarm when necessary.
- Goods Management: Oversee the receipt and dispatch of goods, recording incoming goods on Sage, and managing accurate, timely records.
- Loading Supervision: Oversee container loads, ensuring all items are accurately checked against paperwork and loaded securely.
- Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization across both warehouse sites, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace.
- Inventory Control: Participate in periodic stock takes to ensure accurate inventory records and assist in inventory management.
- Maintenance Coordination: Arrange for regular maintenance of warehouse equipment, ensuring it operates safely and efficiently.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records for all warehouse activities, including goods in/out, inventory changes, and stock counts for audit purposes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Background in furniture manufacturing preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to take responsibility, make informed decisions, and efficiently manage a team to meet targets.
- Attitude: Positive, upbeat, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Sage or similar software for inventory management and goods handling.
- License: Valid drivers license preferred.
This is an on-site position based in Southend-on-Sea. Salary up to £35,000 per annum.
