Working closely with architects and designers, they ensure every installation achieves the perfect balance of comfort, functionality, and visual impact.

Overview

In this role you will support the Research & Development team by creating and modifying 2D and 3D technical drawings and models using CAD software, ensuring accuracy, and learning essential skills for your career progression. You will assist in transforming rough sketches or conceptual designs into precise manufacturing and construction files, while also learning to follow company standards and collaborating with senior team members and project staff.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and design: Creating accurate and detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings based on designs and instructions.
  • Revising existing drawings: Making modifications to existing plans and drawings to incorporate changes or correct inaccuracies.
  • Team collaboration: Working closely with sales and project teams, including other technicians and designers, to ensure drawings meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Understanding project specifications: Reviewing design requirements, sketches, and other data to understand the project's technical specifications.
  • Learning and training: Receiving on-the-job training from experienced professionals to develop skills in CAD software, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Documentation: Keeping accurate records of all design work and maintaining a well-organized file system.

Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as metal fabrication, upholstery, or joinery.
  • Ability to produce accurate technical drawings, layouts, and assembly documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow design and quality standards.
  • Good communication skills – able to work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and production teams.
  • Basic understanding of tolerances, materials, and production drawings.
  • Ability to interpret architectural or design layouts to develop seating configurations.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

This is an on-site position in Southend-On-Sea, paying up to £27,000 per annum.
