Vision Zero Bradford (VZB) is a flagship initiative within the Planning, Transportation & Highways Service aiming to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on the District's roads by 2040. We work collaboratively with internal services, elected members, emergency services, schools, public health, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, and communities to deliver a Safe System approach. The team is forward-thinking, data-led, and committed to meaningful action that protects all road users, particularly the most vulnerable.
We are recruiting three Vision Zero Programme Support Officers to join our expanding team. These roles will play a vital part in delivering the Vision Zero Implementation Strategy (VZBIS), working across delivery planning, data intelligence, and performance monitoring. Each post has a distinct focus, but all contribute directly to the success of our Vision Zero ambition. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the region's most progressive road safety programmes and make a lasting difference in our diverse, vibrant city.
The roles available are:
- Programme Support Officer: This role will provide essential coordination and administrative support across the programme, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Support internal and external meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking actions.
- Maintain delivery plans, correspondence records, and internal dashboards.
- Draft briefings, reports and formal communications to partners and elected members.
- Assist with programme-wide engagement and cross-departmental liaison.
- Support compliance with internal governance and performance tracking.
- Data Science & GIS Support Officer: This role will focus on data intelligence, using spatial and statistical tools to support proactive and evidence-led safety interventions. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyse collision, speed, and behaviour data to identify risk patterns and trends.
- Use GIS, Excel and visualisation tools to map and monitor safety performance.
- Develop dashboards and datasets that support planning and delivery.
- Assist with predictive modelling and monitoring of intervention outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Council and partners to improve intelligence sharing.
- Capital Projects Support Officer: This role will support the monitoring, reporting and assurance of capital-funded projects delivered through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS). Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain project tracking documentation and delivery dashboards.
- Monitor key milestones, risks, and outputs to ensure effective delivery.
- Coordinate submissions to internal boards and external funding bodies.
- Support audit readiness and ensure clear record-keeping for financial compliance.
- Liaise with delivery teams to ensure consistent reporting across the programme.
