The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
We offer a market supplement of 15% for 12 months to senior lawyers with substantial experience and knowledge in this area of law. Our team adopts a hybrid working arrangement, allowing flexibility between working from home and the office. We are the Employment, Education Law, and Litigation Team. We are seeking to appoint a lawyer or senior lawyer to join our busy and highly professional legal team, practicing in complex employment matters, special educational needs, education law, civil litigation, prosecutions, information governance, and elections law. The primary focus of this role will be on employment law.
Main Responsibilities:- Be a qualified solicitor or barrister entitled to practice in England and Wales, or a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
- Exercise professional judgment and make all day-to-day operational decisions on allocated matters and cases, providing legal advice and representation to clients, and offering advice and assistance to Council officers and members.
- Influence and negotiate with contacts both internal and external to the Council, including officers at Chief Executive level and below, elected members, Courts, Tribunals, regulatory bodies, private practice solicitors and barristers, and other professionals involved in the team's work.
- Act as a case holder and, where appropriate, advocate in the Employment Tribunal, providing professional legal services related to employment law to the Council’s departments, and also in education and litigation law as required.
