What You'll Be Doing
- Drive a specialist food waste collection vehicle and other HGV collection vehicles as required.
- Collect food waste and support other waste collection services across the district.
- Work closely with your team to complete daily routes safely and efficiently.
- Help supervise crew members and ensure safe working practices are followed.
- Operate in-cab technology and collection management systems.
- Identify and record contaminated containers in line with service procedures.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Complete vehicle records, defect reports and associated paperwork.
- Help ensure vehicles and equipment are clean, safe and well maintained.
- Deliver a courteous, helpful service to residents and local businesses.
- This is an active, physical role. You'll be on your feet and moving throughout the day, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and you'll finish each shift knowing you've made a real difference in keeping your community clean, safe and running smoothly.
Who We're Looking For
We're not just looking for experience; we're looking for the right attitude.
- The ideal candidate will be:
- Holds a valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence and Driver CPC.
- A professional driver with strong, confident driving skills, particularly when manoeuvring and reversing collection vehicles.
- Physically fit and happy to work all year round outdoors.
- Motivated, reliable and team-focused with a strong work ethic.
- Reliable, safety-conscious and committed to following procedures at all times.
- Comfortable using vehicle technology and completing operational paperwork.
- Professional and respectful when dealing with members of the public.
