Department of Children’s Services – Childrens Sensory and Physical Needs Service, Physical Needs Team Specialist Teacher.

Our vision is to provide high quality support for all Bradford children and young people using a collaborative approach through transformational learning experiences so that they can flourish, make excellent holistic progress and successfully transition to responsible citizens.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated colleague to join our team of professionals to work with children and young people from birth to 25 years old with physical needs as part of our Physical Needs Team.

The role is based at Britannia House, working as an Outreach Specialist Teacher visiting the children and young people within their homes or settings across the Bradford District.

You will be expected to exercise a significant degree of initiative and personal responsibility in managing time, prioritising and carrying out duties.

As a Specialist Teacher, you will have the rewarding experience of teaching pupils to access learning and encourage them to become independent individuals.

Through a detailed induction programme and day-to-day in the role you will develop a depth of knowledge about the Children and Young People (C/YP).

We are expanding the use of assistive technology to facilitate learning and independence in the C/YP and it is essential that the successful candidate has an aptitude and confidence in using ICT such as an i Pad and various apps.

We are looking for a colleague that has a solution-focused approach to meeting the needs of the children and young people.

Those needs can include sensory impairment, cognition and learning, social communication, medical needs and social, emotional and mental health needs.

  • Use assistive technology to facilitate learning and independence, with confidence in ICT tools (e. g., i Pad and apps).
  • Exhibit a solution-focused approach and demonstrate initiative in managing time and duties.
  • Work in accordance with GDPR and Data Protection legislation, and maintain records securely.
  • Apply knowledge of safe manual handling principles or undertake relevant training as required.
  • Travel across the Bradford District; a usable car is required at all times or as advised by the line manager.
