We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Exclusions Officer to play a pivotal leadership role in our work with schools, partners and providers to reduce exclusions and improve outcomes for some of our most vulnerable children. We are looking for someone who wants their expertise to make a real, lasting difference.

About the Role

As Senior Exclusions Officer, you will lead on the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities for school exclusions, ensuring that children who are excluded receive suitable, timely and high‑quality education. You will work closely with schools to prevent exclusion wherever possible, support those at risk of exclusion, and ensure robust systems are in place when exclusions do occur to secure the right provision and the right support.

A central part of this role is partnership and influence. You will work alongside headteachers, senior leaders and alternative provision settings, as well as a wide range of multi‑agency partners, to create clear, successful pathways for children and young people. You will lead and drive effective transitions, including reintegration into mainstream schooling or progression into post‑16 education or training.

You will provide expert advice on exclusion legislation and best practice, represent the Local Authority at disciplinary committees and independent review panels, and play an active role in shaping strategy and practice across Bradford. Through both support and challenge, you will help schools and partners to work differently to reduce exclusion in Bradford and improve outcomes for our most vulnerable young people.

About You
