This vacancy comprises of 2 legal officer positions: 1 full time role supporting the Adult Social Care Legal Team, 1 part time role supporting the Children Social Care Legal Team (22.5 hours / 3 days a week). The establishment of the Children and Families Trust has provided a fantastic opportunity to consider a revised approach towards ways of working in order to improve the delivery of our legal service. There are also opportunities to provide advice to council members, senior officers, scrutiny committees and managers in our client departments on policy and high-profile public issues. We provide legal support and representation to children and adult services and represent the Bradford Children and Families Trust.

We are seeking to appoint two legal officers to join our busy and highly professional social care legal team. This role will allow the right applicants the opportunity to work in a busy legal team supporting the progress of matters before the court and providing legal advice in respect of a diverse range of matters. We are confident that this role will provide the opportunity to make a positive difference working alongside a friendly and supportive team.

The right candidate will:

  • Have experience of working in a legal environment on a full range of legal proceedings.
  • Have experience of working with information that is complex, sensitive, confidential and potentially emotionally demanding in nature.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in preparing complex bundles for court, taking statements from witnesses and liaising with the courts, experts, counsel and other legal representatives in a professional manner.
  • Be willing to develop a knowledge of relevant court rules and procedures across the specialist area of social care legal work in relation to children or adults.
  • Have A levels, BTEC or equivalent qualifications.
  • CILEX or demonstrable experience and knowledge at that level.
