The Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Service is responsible for the licensing, inspection and enforcement of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers, vehicles and operators across the Bradford District.
The key objectives of the service are to promote public safety for the public using taxi and private hire vehicles.
We are looking for an Inspection and Compliance Officer to join our Regulatory and Compliance Team in HCPH Licensing.
This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city, and being in constant contact with the general public, you will need to have exceptional customer service skills.
The main responsibilities of this role
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, produce written reports with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and work effectively to deadlines.
- Analyse and understand the implications of new legislation affecting the Licensing service, including participation on in-service training inputs and other training programmes as required, and maintain personal and professional development in order to meet the changing demands of the post.
- Work flexibly to accommodate the needs of the service including lone working during unsocial hours, at evenings and weekends for which a shift allowance is payable.
- Carry out spot checks on private hire drivers, vehicles and operator's premises to ensure compliance with conditions of licence – carried out both day and night time, including weekends and primarily whilst lone working.
- Promote the work of the HC&PH Licensing Service by attending meetings, internal and external to the Council including with strategic partners, the trade, interest groups, public meetings etc.
