Adults with Disabilities Service Adult Social Care in Bradford supports working‑age adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health needs to live independently and stay connected to their communities.
We work with individuals, families, carers and partners to understand what matters to each person and ensure coordinated planning, proportionate intervention and timely decision‑making.
This includes supporting young people with complex needs as they move into adulthood, individuals who are Autistic or neurodivergent, have physical or mental health needs.
About the role
We are looking for a Graduate Project Officer to join our team and help support a range of projects within the Adults with Disabilities Service.
This includes working on important improvement and change programmes such as the Neurodiverse Friendly Bradford Programme and our CQC Improvement Programme.
This role is an important opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.
In this role, you will support projects from start to finish, helping with planning, delivery and reviewing outcomes.
You will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation to help improve services for adults with disabilities.
This is a development opportunity, so you do not need to have extensive experience when you start.
We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, willing to ask questions, and able to think things through carefully.
We will provide support and training to help you build your knowledge of project management, service improvement and change management.
You will work with a wide range of teams across the council and the wider Bradford district, giving you the opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to work successfully in a local government environment.
With support, guidance and mentoring, you will
- Provide administrative and project support to a range of managers.
- Help plan, organise and deliver agreed projects.
- Set up and maintain project documents and tools, such as risk registers, issue logs, project plans and action trackers.
- Communicate project updates clearly and prepare reports on progress, findings and recommendations.
- Take responsibility for specific tasks and pieces of work, planning your activities, monitoring progress and meeting agreed deadlines with support from colleagues.
- Work effectively with colleagues and partner organisations, contributing to team projects and helping to coordinate activities when needed.
- Gather and analyse information from different sources to identify key themes, risks and possible solutions, with support and guidance from experienced colleagues.
- Carry out research into relevant topics and good practice, presenting findings in a clear and understandable way.
- Develop an understanding of how local government works, including governance, legislation, policies and organisational priorities and Build knowledge of Adult Social Care, including key legislation, policies and service priorities, and apply this understanding to support service improvement and transformation projects.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partner organisations both within and outside the Council.
Progression through the role will be supported through structured performance reviews and training and development within the council’s graduate programme.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic graduate who is keen to learn, contribute and develop in a change and transformation environment and who has:
- A degree (achieved or predicted, in any discipline) that demonstrates an ability to work with complex and varied information.
- A clear interest in adult social care or neurodiversity alongside and interest in change management, behaviour change or transforming services to improve the lives of the people of Bradford.
- The ability to present information clearly and logically, with experience of structured written work, for example through academic study.
- Able to demonstrate some experience of project‑based work - this could be gained through study, work or placements.
- The ability to develop strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills, and an organised and flexible approach to managing workload.
- A willingness to learn, respond positively to feedback, and work in line with Bradford Council’s Brilliant, Bold and Balanced values.
Qualifications required
Achieved or predicted to achieve a recognised undergraduate degree in a subject area relevant to the role.
