The Education Safeguarding team are responsible for ensuring that every school aged child has safe and successful educational provision. This team works collaboratively with Council teams and wider agencies to provide a coordinated approach to the wellbeing of children and young people, to ensure they have the support they need to be healthy, stay safe and enjoy and achieve.

We are looking to recruit an Education Safeguarding Service Manager (a qualified Social Worker or Teacher) to:

  • Lead on the local authority’s statutory responsibilities around school attendance, prosecution and child employment and entertainment licensing.
  • Take a strategic approach to attendance and child licensing across the district, sharing good practice, liaising with all stakeholders and ensuring all vulnerable groups of children are considered in meeting the council’s statutory duties.
  • Manage a team of officers of both traded and statutory services in relation to attendance, prosecution and child employment and entertainment licensing, who will ensure delivery of the local authority’s statutory duties in regard to education safeguarding and contribute proactively to wider plans and strategies which promote school attendance and pupil wellbeing across the district.
  • Supervise managers across the service, and analyse data and information around these, working with professionals across the district where situations are complex.

The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and management skills and will be able to convey a vision for the Local Authority’s approach to school attendance, prosecution and child licensing, and how to ensure compliance with government guidance.
