Bradford College is looking for talented and enthusiastic individuals to create a better future for all by working together to transform lives as an English Lecturer within our exceptional construction department. Working in state-of-the-art classrooms, our English Lecturers deliver outstanding teaching and learning to inspire, motivate and develop our student’s knowledge and skills. Through exceptional classroom, employer linked and enrichment delivery, our lecturers ensure students have the opportunity to either progress to Higher Education or enter employment.

Responsibilities include:

  • To teach on GCSE and Functional Skills English courses specified by the Head of Department/Team Leader within the college and in the community.
  • To participate actively in the development of the curriculum.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students on college courses either in the community or on the college sites.
  • To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners to drive their progress in learning, and to meet/exceed their targets and enable them to reach their career goals.
  • To be responsible for student’s academic progress, wellbeing, positive behaviour and careers throughout their learning journey.
  • To seek out and respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
  • To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.
  • To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.
  • To participate in relevant Course Committee activities.
  • To undertake invigilation duties as required.
  • To participate actively in the maintenance and promotion of close links with employers and training agencies.
  • To participate in College Open Days; career events and promotional events both on and off College premises.
  • To provide appropriate information to parents/employers through College reporting systems and open evenings.
  • To assist the departmental management team with costings and control of materials and equipment when specified.
  • To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.
