Lecturer in Employability and Sustainability (Fixed Term 12 months) in Bradford

We have a new opportunity to join our exceptional Engineering and Motor Vehicle department as an Employability Skills and Sustainability Lecturer. In this role you will lead, teach and assist in the development and delivery of Employability Skills and Sustainability qualifications to students within the Engineering and Motor Vehicle Department. Alongside delivering purposeful, creative and engaging lessons you will also provide excellent pastoral support to learners and liaise with parents/carers/internal and external support services. Please note that this role is Fixed Term for a period of 12 months. This is a Full Time position working 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

• To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
• Deliver group and individual tutorial sessions.
• To participate actively in curriculum development; and where appropriate in cross-college marketing activities.
• To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
• To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
• To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
• To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
• To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.

Education & Training

• GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.
• GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.
• Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PCET, PGCE) or willingness to work towards this qualification.

Experience

• Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
• Experience in good teaching/training.
• Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures.
• Experience of course leadership responsibilities.
