Our thriving Construction department are seeking a Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer to deliver an outstanding student learning experience, as you prepare young adults and experienced trade professionals to contribute to the modern world of work. We welcome applications from both experienced teaching staff as well as industry professionals looking to share their skills and experience with the next generation. If you do not hold a teaching qualification, Bradford College will support staff members to achieve this. Please note that this is a Part Time role working 14 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • To teach on courses specified by the management team in and out of College premises.
  • To assist the management team in delivering high learning value, financially efficient programmes (including physical resource management) and to lead on innovation and efficiency in the delivery of learning.
  • To be responsible for student’s academic progress, wellbeing, behaviour management and careers and pastoral guidance throughout their learning journey.
  • To seek out and respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning.
  • To help students develop modern, safe working practices and behaviours – in both technical (vocational skills) and employability skills.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, monitoring, profiling and assessment of students.
  • To proactively develop and promote close links with employer/industry partners.
  • To create enriching, effective and inspirational programmes of learning that expose our students to real-life work experiences – including on and off campus.
  • To treat students as individuals and develop personalised learning plans that drive their progress in learning, scaffold them to meet and exceed their targets and enable them to reach their career goals.
  • To arrange, supervise and manage students on placements, offsite visits and related activities.

Education & Training

  • Relevant industry and/or vocational experience in the subject specialism being taught – Carpentry & Joinery.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in carpentry or equivalent subject.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or willing to work towards in a given timeframe.
  • GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent.
  • GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent.

Experience

  • A proven track record of industry practice, demonstrating personal achievement and professionalism.
  • Leading partnership work with external stakeholders to deliver projects, trips, visits and employer engagement.
  • Experience of teaching carpentry to level 3 as a minimum within a teaching/training environment.
  • Ability to methodically plan student progress and record effectively.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to teach a range of topics within specified subject area.
  • The ability to plan and deliver high quality, imaginative and inspirational teaching and learning which meets curriculum requirements and the needs of all students on a range of programmes.
  • The ability to ensure that individual learner needs are met in a responsive way, in line with the concept of inclusive learning, and an outstanding student experience.
