We are looking for a passionate Health & Science Lecturer to join our Early Years, Education & Social Care Team. The successful applicant will help to transform the lives of our students by teaching across our Health & Science qualifications, predominantly at Level 3 and to lead and develop our T‑Level provision. This is a part‑time role, working 17.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery, and obtaining and analysing feedback.
  • To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods.
  • Engage in professional development concerning teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence‑informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice.
  • To participate actively in curriculum development, and, where appropriate, in cross‑college marketing activities.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
  • To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
  • To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements, off‑site visits and activities where appropriate.
  • To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning, and to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
  • To proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department.
  • To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department.

Education & Training

  • Level 5 Qualification or subject specialism in Health & Science or relevant area.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • GCSE 4–9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale.

Experience

  • Academic, industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
  • Experience in good teaching/training.
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures.
  • Experience of course leadership responsibilities.
