Health and Safety Advisor in Bradford

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Health & Safety team as a Health & Safety Advisor. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Health & Safety Advisor to join our team, playing a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality safety service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a dynamic college environment, where you’ll contribute to maintaining compliance, promoting best practice, and driving continuous improvement—while developing your own expertise and making a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of staff and students alike.

Responsibilities

• To accurately carry out data input and administrative work with a high level of professionalism, maintaining records of health and safety training, incident reports and compliance for audits.
• To undertake tasks relating to the effective implementation of policies and procedures, provide expert advice and guidance whilst ensuring best practice.
• To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.
• Complete DSE Assessments and implement control measures.
• Review and accept Visits and Trips in accordance with College policies.
• Organise Committee meetings and collect all the relevant data.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, identifying hazards and then recommending measures to mitigate risks.
• Analyse injuries and incident reports, identifying trends and suggesting improvements.

Education & Training

• GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale.
• GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale.
• IOSH Managing Safely is desirable but not essential.

Experience

• Experience working in a Health & Safety environment.
• Experience in an administrative/clerical role.
• Experience of working within an educational institution.
• Experience of using databases.
• Experience of being the first point of contact.
