We have an exciting opportunity to join our Health & Safety team as a Health & Safety Advisor. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Health & Safety Advisor to join our team, playing a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality safety service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a dynamic college environment, where you’ll contribute to maintaining compliance, promoting best practice, and driving continuous improvement—while developing your own expertise and making a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of staff and students alike.
Responsibilities
- To accurately carry out data input and administrative work with a high level of professionalism, maintaining records of health and safety training, incident reports and compliance for audits.
- To undertake tasks relating to the effective implementation of policies and procedures, provide expert advice and guidance whilst ensuring best practice.
- To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.
- Complete DSE Assessments and implement control measures.
- Review and accept Visits and Trips in accordance with College policies.
- Organise Committee meetings and collect all the relevant data.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, identifying hazards and then recommending measures to mitigate risks.
- Analyse injuries and incident reports, identifying trends and suggesting improvements.

Education & Training
- GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale.

- IOSH Managing Safely is desirable but not essential.
Experience
- Experience working in a Health & Safety environment.
- Experience in an administrative/clerical role.
- Experience of working within an educational institution.
- Experience of using databases.
- Experience of being the first point of contact.
