Team Manager - Court Team

Full-Time No working from home possible
Bradford Children and Families Trust

We currently have a full–time 37‑hour opportunity for a Team Manager. You will be supporting a team of community resources workers working with parents in pre‑proceedings where domestic abuse is a concern and who have a child under one or who are expecting a baby. The Born into Care research revealed a concerning rise in newborns entering care proceedings, with cases in England and Wales increasing. In 2019/20 86.3% of newborn cases in England and 74.8% in Wales involved short‑notice hearings. A significant proportion of these parents were also in care as children. These patterns reflect a growing need for holistic, multi‑agency, personalised support for parents who experience separation from their children to help them build positive futures for themselves and their families, whether or not they are able to care for their children themselves. You will deliver a planned and focused intensive intervention utilising trauma‑informed approaches to coordinate and ensure delivery of individualised support packages that help parents build strength, resilience, overcome challenges, gain confidence and acquire the personal and social assets to move forward and become safer adults and parents. This is a hands‑on role at the frontline of ensuring that every child has the best start in life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of six community resources workers.
  • Support workers to help families and reduce risk.
  • Offer reflective supervision to workers, both child‑focused and personal.
  • Facilitate progression of workers and tackle performance issues when needed.
  • Monitor performance through audit activity, reflective group supervision and quality assurance.
  • Undertake audit activity and disseminate identified learning.
  • Lead practice development projects with service users, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Attend relevant partner agency meetings and service manager meetings.
  • Implement and support change within the team, offering a supportive and nurturing leadership style.
  • Chair multi‑agency meetings and make decisions linked to safeguarding thresholds.

About You

  • Hold a DIPSW or equivalent qualification and are registered with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
  • Have at least four years post‑qualifying experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Expert in managing the delivery of quality outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Passionate about the development of others.
  • Embrace change and strive for excellent practice, placing children and young people at the heart of decision making.
  • Experience in tackling complex needs with enthusiasm, drive and determination.
  • Understand relevant statutory and legal requirements to safeguard children and young people.

Benefits

  • Retention payment (annual, paid in 12 monthly instalments).
  • Generous annual leave – 31 days rising to 34 with service, plus bank holidays.
  • Excellent Local Government pension.
  • Family‑friendly policies and enhanced parental leave.
  • Health & wellbeing support, including Occupational Health and counselling.
  • Professional development and career progression opportunities.
  • National Living Wage employer.
