About the Role

We currently have a full‑time 37‑hour opportunity for a Community Resource Worker. You will support Social Workers working with parents in pre‑proceedings where domestic abuse is a concern and who have a child under one or are expecting a baby. The Born into Care research showed a concerning rise in newborns entering care proceedings, with cases in England and Wales increasing. In 2019/20, 86.3% of newborn cases in England and 74.8% in Wales involved short‑notice hearings. A significant proportion of these parents were also in care as children. This highlights a growing need for holistic, multi‑agency, personalised support for parents who experience separation from their children, helping them build strength and resilience and become safer adults and parents.

The role requires you to deliver a planned and focused intensive intervention using trauma‑informed approaches to coordinate and ensure delivery of individualised support packages. You will work directly with parents, building relationships and trust on the frontline of ensuring every child has the best possible start in life. Our approach is rooted in restorative and relational practice, fostering trust, mutual respect, and meaningful relationships with children, families, and professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct work with parents to understand domestic abuse, its drivers, and factors that sustain it.
  • Attend formulation meetings as a team to hypothesise parents’ needs and identify interventions.
  • Coordinate and ensure delivery of individualised support packages for parents in line with the formulation of need.
  • Review the impact of interventions coordinated for and delivered to parents.

Requirements

  • Hold a minimum Level 3 Diploma working with children and young people or an equivalent qualification such as a relevant degree, Dip S.W, RGN, teaching, youth and community, or equivalent with 2 years of experience.
  • Experience – adequate continuous experience of working with children and young people.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Driving licence and access to a car with business insurance unless a disability prevents this.
  • Must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; all employees must share this commitment.
