Bradford Children and Families Trust are looking for experienced, innovative and dedicated permanent Practice Supervisors for the Family Help service to drive our services forward and to ensure that our promise to improve the lives of Children and Young People in Bradford becomes a reality. Bradford Children and Families Trust was established in April 2023 to enhance the quality and delivery of Children’s Services across the Bradford district. Family Help is part of national reform work within the Families First Programme and seeks to enable change in the way that children and families are supported. This includes families getting the right support by the right person at the right time, reducing transition points and sticking with families when a relationship has been established. The ethos of Family Help is to work in partnership with families to effect positive, long term and sustainable change.
About the Role
You will work with and support families who need targeted and intense help. The role engages children and families with complex circumstances so that need can be identified early and addressed with whole family support and planning. The role is in a team that comprises of Senior Family Support Workers and Social Workers as well as colleagues from partner agencies.
- Support students through practice education and newly qualified social workers undertaking the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
- Support Social Workers and Senior Family Support Workers.
- Support the Team Manager to manage the performance of the team through audit activity, reflective group supervision and quality assurance activity.
- Be an expert in good practice, act as a consultant for others, advising on the most complex situations and taking the lead where necessary on complex assessments.
- Undertake practice development projects with those who use our services, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Complete level 1 and level 2 Practice Educator (PE) training to support student learning and placements within the Trust.
- Drive forward learning and practice improvement in these core areas alongside dip sampling with practitioners each month.
Qualifications and Experience
- A DIPSW or equivalent qualification and are registered with the Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
- A full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes - adjustments can be considered for candidates with a disability.
- Practice Educator Stage 2 (PE2) or PE1 with a commitment to start PE2 within 6 months of joining.
- Significant experience of managing complex issues including child protection work and court proceedings.
- Experience embracing change and striving for excellent practice, placing children and young people at the heart of decision making.
- Experience of tackling the most complex needs with enthusiasm, drive, and determination.
- Experience operating as a level 3 Social Worker including involvement with complex legal proceedings.

- Retention Payment: You will be eligible for our annual retention payment, paid in 12 monthly instalments. This is non contractual (reviewed annually).
