As Automation & AI Solutions Specialist, you will design, develop and optimise digital automation and AI‑enabled solutions under the direction of the Automation & AI Solutions Manager. The role supports the Trust’s ambition to replace manual processes, improve data flows and embed modern, user‑centred digital services. You will work across the full solution lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to development, deployment, optimisation and support. The postholder will also play an important role in helping colleagues understand and adopt artificial intelligence tools safely, ethically and effectively, in line with governance and data protection requirements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, innovation and practical delivery, and who is keen to develop their expertise in automation and AI within a public‑sector environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deploy automation and digital solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse and approved integrations.
  • Support the delivery of AI‑enabled workflows and tools, including Copilot technologies, AI Builder and conversational solutions.
  • Ensure all solutions meet Trust standards for security, governance, accessibility and GDPR compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve existing digital solutions.
  • Work with service teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, user guides and support materials.
  • Support testing, training, adoption and ongoing optimisation of new solutions.
  • Monitor solution performance and contribute to benefits tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging automation and AI technologies and best practice.

Your Skills and Knowledge

  • We are looking for motivated individuals with strong technical capability and a collaborative approach, who are passionate about using digital and AI tools to improve services.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering Microsoft Power Platform solutions.
  • Experience mapping business processes and identifying automation opportunities.
  • Understanding of data modelling, integrations and cloud‑based services.
  • Knowledge of information security, identity management and GDPR requirements.
  • Ability to produce high‑quality technical and user documentation.
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Degree‑level qualification in Computing, ICT, Digital Technologies or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant Microsoft Power Platform certification and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Copilot, AI Builder, Azure OpenAI or conversational AI platforms.
  • Experience developing chatbots or AI‑enhanced workflows.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering and responsible AI practices.
  • Experience contributing to digital standards, governance or best‑practice guidance.
  • Project delivery experience or relevant Agile / PRINCE2 knowledge.
