Packaging and Ingredients Buyer – Job Purpose The Packaging and Ingredients Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing packaging materials and ingredients required for business operations. The role ensures that packaging supplies are obtained at the best quality, cost, and delivery terms while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting operational requirements. The role reports to the Head of Buying and the ideal buyer thrives in a fast-paced environment, uses initiative and a positive attitude to support the team and contribute to the continued success of the business. Benefits: Competitive salary ; 33 days of annual leave (including bank holidays) ; Company pension ; Cycle to work scheme ; Discounted Gym membership Store discounts ; Full EAP system ; Company staff shop ; Free on-site parking The Packaging and Ingredients Buyer will be responsible for/ but not limited to: * Source and purchase packaging materials in line with company requirements. * Negotiate prices, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers. * Evaluate supplier performance on quality, delivery, and cost. * Work closely with production, warehouse, and quality teams to understand packaging needs. * Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative packaging solutions. * Ensure purchased materials meet company quality and compliance standards. * Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation. * Resolve supplier issues, including quality concerns and delivery delays. * Track market trends and pricing changes for packaging materials. The successful Packaging and Ingredients Buyer has: * Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain * Knowledge of packaging materials and supplier management. * Strong negotiation and communication skills. * Excellent organizational and analytical abilities. * Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. * A minimum of +2 years relevant ingredient and packaging buying experience. * Education: Minimum of GCSE * A relevant qualification is advantageous E.g. CIPS, a Business/ Supply Chain Degree. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP (Syspro)/purchasing systems. * Work authorisation: Existing UK work authorisation/ Please note there is no visa sponsorship for this role
