Overview

We have a great opportunity for a copywriter on a full time, fixed-term basis. Any successful internal candidate will be offered the position as a secondment and, in line with Section 8.1 of the Secondment Policy, must consult with their manager before applying.

Location: Time Square, Bracknell. Contract: Temporary, fixed term until March 2026. Working pattern: Flexible hours / Full time. Salary: £37,092 – £41,506 FTE inclusive of London Weighting. DBS Check: No. Closing Date: 21/09/2025 23:59. Reference: CM/25/321740.

About You

We are looking for someone who loves words and is passionate about transforming dull, dry text into engaging copy. You will help others improve their writing for a range of audiences and support them to produce clear, accessible copy and strong messaging.

About The Team

The Communications and Marketing team is small and collaborative. We work across the organisation and seek modern, accessible ways to communicate with residents. We avoid fluff and focus on important, real-time communications and marketing with an impact on our residents and community. You will take ownership of your work, time and stakeholders with support available when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • To write and edit copy in line with accessibility standards and house-style for a range of mediums and channels.
  • To edit and proof documents, including strategies, presentations and policies, ensuring copy is easy to read, jargon-free, accessible and relevant.
  • To produce the council’s annual hardcopy residents’ magazine, weekly e-magazine, and staff magazines, including copywriting, editing and proofing, and working with suppliers and designers.
  • To oversee the content of service-led council e-newsletters to ensure they are accurate, professionally written and accessible for the relevant audience.
  • To set up and run regular drop-in and training sessions for staff to troubleshoot copy issues and provide solutions, advice and templates.
