We have an exciting opportunity for a Safeguarding Our Schools Team Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a chance to lead a committed Education Safeguarding Team within our forward-thinking Education & Learning service, making a real difference to the safety, wellbeing, and future of children across our schools.

About you

You are an experienced safeguarding practitioner and experienced manager, passionate about keeping children safe and helping them reach their full potential. You are resilient, self-motivated, and provide expert advice and strategic leadership to school leaders and senior officers, promoting best practice in education safeguarding across all schools.

About the team

You will lead a committed Education Safeguarding Team, comprising an Education Safeguarding Officer and Administrator, based at Time Square within a flexible working environment. As part of our Education & Learning service, the team is collaborative, proactive, and focused on supporting schools to meet their safeguarding responsibilities with confidence and high standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Manage the Safeguarding Team and advise the Director and Local Safeguarding Board on statutory duties and pupil wellbeing.
  • Expert Advisory: Provide advisory support, networking, and supervision for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and senior school leaders.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver comprehensive group training programmes for child protection staff and lead DSL networks across the borough.
  • Monitoring & Compliance: Conduct safeguarding audits and monitor standards in alternative provision, residential, and out-of-county placements.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Represent education services at senior levels, including the Safeguarding Board, MAPPA, MARAC, and Channel Panel.
