About You
- Degree or equivalent qualification in heritage conservation or relevant experience.
- Significant experience providing conservation and historic heritage advice in the UK planning sector.
- Strong understanding of planning and conservation legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply it in practice.
About the Team
The role sits within the Strategic Sites and Design Team in the Planning section of the council’s Place directorate, working with six teams covering development management, planning enforcement, technical support, policy and priority delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide conservation advice to Development Management on pre‑application enquiries and planning applications.
- Offer expert guidance on heritage and conservation matters to Development Management Officers to support application consideration and enforcement matters.
- Assist the council in exercising statutory duties concerning heritage assets.
- Advise on all matters relating to conservation, listed buildings and heritage assets.
- Lead or assist in preparing conservation‑related planning policy and guidance.
